Babich Wines gears up for its 100-year anniversary.

In a country as young as New Zealand is, it’s not often that a company starts talking about its 100 years of history.

Babich Wines are not quite there yet, the milestone will be passed in 2016, but the company says the celebrations will start next year across New Zealand and in the company’s various export markets.

This campaign will incorporate an extensive global drive that will be supported by 100-year promotional activity, the release of limited edition wines and Babich-hosted events in major cities around the world. Plans are also in place to give the Babich Cellar Door in Henderson Valley a facelift.

The Babich upcoming milestone has already been welcomed by Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers. He says the 2016 centenary for Babich Wines is not just an important milestone for the company but also for the New Zealand wine industry as a whole.

“Babich Wines and generations of the Babich family are exemplars of all that has made New Zealand wine such an inspiring international success story,” he said.

“From humble beginnings, with hard work, with enormous dedication and with great vision they have built a highly successful wine business. Their individual enterprise has always been coupled with unwavering service to the wider New Zealand wine industry, for which they are applauded and recognised by their peers.”

John Lang, Babich Wines’ sales and marketing manager says the business has been the livelihood of three generations and is extremely successful both in New Zealand and globally.

“The New Zealand wine industry is often thought of as a young industry, so to be talking about 100 years of experience is quite significant. Babich Wines demonstrates ‘excellence through experience’ by producing quality wines that stand up to the very best the world has to offer.”
