Vanderlande has delivered a new cross-dock sorting solution to Harris Farm Markets’ distribution centre (DC) in Sydney, Australia. The facility consolidates several of the company’s former operations into one location, addressing capacity constraints and improving overall supply chain efficiency.
Family-owned and operated for more than 50 years, Harris Farm Markets employs around 3,000 people and continues to evolve its distribution strategy to support growth across its retail network. The new DC marks an important step in the company’s supply chain transformation, introducing modern best practices in storage, fulfilment and logistics.
“By using this cross-dock solution we will improve accuracy and efficiency in our new Greystanes distribution centre, bringing products to our stores in a faster and more efficient manner,” says Angus Harris, co-CEO at Harris Farm Markets.

The cross-dock system enables automation of stockless operations. Products are trans-shipped directly to stores on demand, reducing delivery times while improving order completeness and accuracy. Enhanced tracking and traceability support higher service levels for both stores and consumers.
At the centre of the system is Vanderlande’s PosiSorter – a high-capacity sliding shoe sorter designed for reliability, gentle product handling and precise operation. Its compact, modular design allows for flexible integration into existing layouts, and its proven global performance record sets a strong benchmark for efficiency in modern warehouse environments.
