Keeping wine vats and barrels clean and sanitised is a challenge for volume wine producers. One Hunter Valley based boutique winery in Australia, Keith Tulloch Wine, has found a steam cleaner that delivers everything the company was looking for.
The Aussie Stella steam cleaner is the key cleaning tool at the winery. The Aussie steamer provides 3000 psi pressure and uses hot water and steam up to 110 degrees Celsius to provide fast, effective cleaning of up to 50 barrels a day.
“This great cleaner has done everything we’ve asked of it, no problem,” says business owner Keith Tulloch.
“We use it to hot rinse each barrel. It takes just five minutes and that means we can clean up to 50 barrels a day.”
The heart of the system is a ‘Big Berty’ Bertolinitriplex pump designed for continuous professional service. It features solid ceramic pistons, stainless steel valves and an exclusive double seal system to prevent leaks.
Mr Tulloch chose the Aussie Stella because of its simple robust design. The machine utilises a heavy duty pressure switch to control the automatic ‘Total Stop’ that protects the unit from the dangers of extended bypass operation. That means there are no delicate electronics to service.
The Aussie Stella unique design has revolutionised hot water steam cleaners. The machine has a chrome steel frame and heavy duty steel base that forms a chassis. The diesel tank, that provides the heating element with fuel, is fully protected inside the frame. The pump unloader and other key elements are easily accessible for service and are clearly visible to the operator.
The tubular frame comes with ‘click on’ side covers for ease of service. The power is supplied to the steamer from a heavy duty three phase 5.5kW motor, running at 1450rpm. Thus both pump and motor are slow speed, designed for a long trouble free life.
The electrical system is simple with user friendly controls mounted on the console at the back of the machine. A stainless steel AISi304 fire box and chimney with perforated chrome steel cover is standard equipment, not an option on this commercial steam cleaner.
The Aussie Stella steamer comes equipped with a heavy duty 4000 psi rated gun, stainless steel lance and a range of Aussie quick tip spray nozzles. The five different nozzles enable the operator to adjust the angle of spray by simply clicking the desired nozzle into the tip of the 1200mm lance.
