Wireless data acquisition via wi-fi

0

Newport’s data acquisition system for monitoring temperature, humidity and barometric pressure is easy to install by using an existing wireless network.

Using conventional data loggers and manual gathering of information can be costly to most businesses. However, automating this process by installing hardwire data acquisition systems can be too expensive to justify.

To utilise an existing wi-fi network, Newport has released its wSeries transmitters for monitoring temperature, humidity and barometric pressure while also including inputs for dual thermocouples and dual analog process signals. The transmitter modules are weatherproof, wall mountable and battery powered using standard alkaline batteries.

The data acquisition system requires no physical installation and has free software. To install a system, place transmitters at each measuring point and position external sensors where they are needed to take readings. When configured with the field transmitters, data is accessible on any PC on the network through any web browser. As an option, SMS or email alarms can be sent when conditions change.

Battery life will extend to four years with a measuring interval of two minutes or above, and batteries are user replaceable.

The system includes features such as data graphing, input calibration functions, archiving, and interaction through web browser software and scaling of inputs and the units are fully approved to the Australian standard for RF.
