Scoop Dog is a small Dunedin-based team that has made big waves in the pet food industry. When launching in 2011, owners Jono and Aleisha Kennedy set out with a mission: to make sharing their favourite human foods with the family dog, healthy and fun.
After years of frustration at seeing the same old food and treat selection in every pet supply store, they say that they had the idea of bringing the best human treats to the country’s dogs. They started with the kiwi summer favourite – ice cream.
“The human version isn’t exactly the healthiest treat out and those naughty ingredients can do some serious harm to the family pooch.”
After a year of extensive research and development, Scoop Dog produced a product with innovative ingredient combinations, excellent nutritional benefits, and high palatability.
The Kennedy’s have continued to assemble a range of the most loved human treats and adapt them into dog-friendly products. Things like beer, jelly, blowing bubbles and even Easter eggs now come in a version that is safe for the family dog.
“In a short space of time Scoop Dog has become a house-hold name with dog-lovers across the country. The company has big plans to take on the international market, while remaining committed to good honest ingredients with an innovative twist. After all, why settle for boring when you can do more?”
Currently in the ice cream range, lucky dogs can indulge in bacon, vanilla, choccy, peanut butter and ‘Barkday’ flavours… the company’s Barking Bacon dog beer huge success too, currently sold out online.
