ENZA Award

ENZAFOODS’ FreshFields Apple Sauce won the Progressive Enterprises Grocer’s Choice Award at the New Zealand Food Awards held in Auckland late last year.

The retail judges praised the Apple Sauce pouch for its “smart portion sized packs” and said “this product is a winner in terms of its opportunities for use.”

FreshFields Apple Sauce was a finalist in three of the eight main awards categories – the Food Product Innovation Award, Convenience and Meal Solutions Award and the Food Packaging Award.

Marketing manager David France put the result down to “a great team effort to get this product to a point where it has won a major award.

“This is an endorsement that we are on the right track with our great tasting product, its packaging design and our innovative marketing approach.”

FreshFields Apple Sauce launched into the fast moving consumer goods sector two years ago with demand increasing rapidly for the additive-free, New Zealand-branded product.

Retail brand manager Robin Percy says customers were attracted by the convenience and versatility of the single-serve pouch and the high quality fruit, from Hawke’s Bay and Nelson grown apples.

“This is the only product of its kind on the shelves.”

Recent marketing strategies had seen FreshFields Apple Sauce promoted in the butchery sections of supermarkets as well as the grocery aisles.

“We’re showing customers FreshFields Apple Sauce is not just for roast pork but it’s great with other cuts as well,” says Mr Percy.
