“Sustainability is embedded from the ground up,” says Sarah Spencer, Saito Labels CEO. “Clients inherit the benefits of our infrastructure immediately – with no need for change management, no additional cost, and no compromise on quality.”
Unlike opt-in sustainability models, Saito’s approach delivers low-impact labelling as the default. This makes it scalable and relevant across sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, FMCG, and export. All of these industries rely on high-volume, compliant labelling systems.
What distinguishes the business, Spencer says, is its holistic and authentic commitment to environmental outcomes. Alongside renewable energy and water systems, Saito has invested in innovative building materials and waste reduction strategies that extend beyond the production line. The company’s factory walls incorporate more than 15,000kg of manufacturing waste, locked into SaveBoard composite panels with other hard-to-recycle materials. It is one of several practical applications of circular thinking within the business.
Saito also partners with organisations across New Zealand to scale viable solutions for waste and recovery. These include projects to repurpose materials that would otherwise go to landfill, as well as a liner-waste vermicomposting initiative with MyNoke that turns industrial byproducts into nutrient-rich compost.
“Saito isn’t just following best practice, we’re helping define it,” says Spencer. “Our collaborations in waste recovery, logistics, and material innovation support local jobs, reduce environmental harm, and give our clients a measurable edge in ESG reporting.”
Companies moving to Saito may see immediate improvements in Scope 3 emissions and stronger alignment with responsible procurement goals. As the packaging industry continues to shift toward circularity, ethical sourcing, and low-emission production, Spencer says Saito is already delivering.
“Saito is already there – leading, not trying to catch up.”
