Lincoln University Food Innovation student Yvonne Liu dreams of one day seeing her own products on the shelves and is working hard to turn that dream into a reality.

HS: What is your current line of study and why did you choose it?

YL: I’m doing a Masters in Food Innovation. I want to become a food technologist to develop my own product and see it in the market.

What do you think the next generation can bring to the food and beverage industry?

I think the next generation will combine different cultures and redefine food and beverage. Also, the future will come with new technologies that can highly improve production.

What’s something in your field of study you feel passionately about and why?

I am passionate about innovation because I can use different ingredients to create new flavours or textures.

How can the sector make the F&B industry more inviting to young people considering joining it as a career?

Let them know what the career is like beforehand. The industry can also introduce the production process from ingredients to a commercial product to young people.
