Hawke’s Bay winery Craggy Range is a finalist in the Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Star Awards.

The beautiful winery positioned between Te Mata Peak and the Tukituki River near Havelock North is one of five finalists in the New World Winery category of the annual awards. It was a finalist in the same category last year which was won by Australian winery Penfolds.

The New Zealand winery is up against producers from Brazil, Canada, South Africa and Chile, with the winner taking out not only a trophy but the accolade represented by winning one of the world’s most prestigious award for the New World Winery category.

Craggy Range owner Terry Peabody says the winery team is thrilled by the nomination.

“We have been very active in the North American market this year and are hoping for big things after coming so close in 2013.”

Wine Enthusiast Magazine was founded in 1988 and with 800,000 readers is regarded as the world’s largest periodical devoted exclusively to wine and spirits.

Each year the editors of the magazine honour the individuals and companies that have made outstanding achievements in the wine and beverage world.

The winners will be announced in the special December 31 Wine Star Awards issue, and the honourees will be presented their Wine Star Award trophies at a gala black-tie dinner in New York City on January 26, next year.
